Founder of Poroco Industries Corporation
Poroco Industries Corporation was established in November 16, 1989 to exclusively distribute Unilever Philippines, formerly known as Philippine Refinery Company (PRC), products to the entire area of Southern Mindanao.
Founded by Antonio C. Uy, who retired as General Sales Manager of the same company, he invited the other rank and file of the sales department of the multinational company to join him in creating this distribution company.
What is Poroco?
POROCO is a by-word of PRC. The Three “O”s represent the different levels of stockholders of the Company: The General Sales manager, the Division Managers, and the Sales Executives with some of their Merchandisers.
Expansion of the Company
The Company has grown so fast that it had to transfer to a much bigger site. In 1991, the newly completed office in San Jose Street, Guadalupe Village, Lanang, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur, Philippines became the official address of the Company. With a bigger area and better facilities, the Company was ready to accept more principals.
Branching Out and Extending Partnerships
In 1995, the Company left Unilever and moved on to distribute products from other principals which, the management felt, would give better partnership in terms of profitability, people development, and product excellence. Meadjohnson, Smithkline, Bayer Philippines became the Company’s partners, to name a few.
